The choice of images is as important to the historian as the choice of words. Photographs speak from the past as archival artifacts, or reshaped and adjusted, they migrate to other narratives.
Just as we read documents, we can read photographs as documentary evidence or as interpretive representations, or we can selectively transform them into design elements to illustrate thematic paradigms.
